Proposed Abolition of the Australian Building and Construction Commission

The Australian Building and construction Commission was appointed by the Howard government in 2005 to oversee and enforce workplace laws and regulations in the construction industry. This commission was given powers to question workers about union meetings and heavily fine those who breached protocol according to the ABCC. With the liberal party now out of office unions across the country have called for the scrapping of the ABCC however the
Master Builders Association of NSW claims that this would be a step backward and that the sole purpose of the ABCC is to boost worker productivity and ensure better conditions for workers.
